If you’re looking to experience Mallorca beyond its beaches and resorts, mark your calendar for one of the island’s most charming summer traditions: the Feria Nocturna in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar. This magical Night Fair transforms a peaceful inland village into a lively celebration of local food, music, crafts, and community spirit — all under the warm August night sky.

For decades, this fair has been a highlight of the Festes Patronals, the patron saint festivities in Sant Llorenç. What began as a small gathering of locals has grown into one of the area’s must-see summer events, held around the town’s historic old train station, known locally as l’Estació. Today, the fair brings together generations to celebrate local heritage through open-air concerts, folk dancing, handmade crafts, and delicious regional food.

When and Where

Date: Saturday, August 9, 2025
Time: From 8:00 PM until late
Location: Old Train Station, Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, eastern Mallorca

What to Expect in 2025

Local Crafts and Artisan Market
Dozens of stalls line the old railway grounds, showcasing traditional ceramics, handmade textiles, local produce, and unique gifts. It’s a perfect place to pick up a piece of authentic Mallorca to take home.

Mallorcan Tapas and Street Food
Food lovers can sample creative twists on island classics. Local restaurants and food trucks serve everything from fresh seafood and confit duck cannelloni to craft beers and sweet pastries.

Live Music and Traditional Dance
Throughout the evening, stages fill with local bands, folk groups, and traditional dancers in colourful costumes. Visitors can watch the iconic “gegants” (giant figures) and hear the haunting sound of the island’s traditional bagpipes, called “xeremiers”.

The Night Run
One of the most unique parts of the celebration is the friendly nighttime fun run through the village streets. Locals of all ages take part, and it often ends with a playful foam party in the village square.

Pop-Up Art and Exhibitions
Inside the old station building, visitors will find local artists exhibiting paintings, sculptures and crafts that reflect the rural heritage of the area.

Human Towers (Castells)
One of the most captivating spectacles is the performance by the “Al·lots de Llevant”, a local group who build dramatic human towers, a Catalan tradition that never fails to draw a crowd.

 Tips for Visitors

Arrive early, ideally between 8 and 9 PM, to explore the stalls and enjoy the food before the crowds arrive. If you plan to dine at one of the local restaurants, it’s wise to book a table in advance as they fill up fast on fair night. Comfortable shoes are a must if you’re planning to join the fun run or stroll through the fair all evening. Parking can be tight, so many visitors park in the town centre and walk to the old station to soak up the atmosphere along the way.

The Feria Nocturna is part of Sant Llorenç’s larger summer festival calendar, which runs through August and early September. The village hosts concerts, children’s activities, sports events, parades, and folk performances, offering plenty of reasons to spend more than just an evening exploring the local culture.

Whether you’re a curious foodie, a culture lover, or simply looking to experience Mallorca away from the usual tourist trail, the Feria Nocturna is a warm, welcoming invitation to join the locals for a night of authentic island tradition. Bring family or friends, enjoy good food, dance to live music, and celebrate under the stars in the heart of Mallorca.
