Now making excellent progress into my 40’s, I am noticing that my skin is undeniably starting to age. I felt like a little TLC was in order so I went to see skincare specialist, Hazel Pettitt from Face2Face Mallorca.
The area I really needed her help with was my chest. Woefully neglected over the years it was starting to flourish with broken capillaries, pigmentation, and sun spots. Whilst in my 30’s I’d realised sunscreen was essential for my face, I hadn’t spared a thought for my decolletage and I hadn’t found a cream that could now undo the damage. Professional help was going to be needed if it could possibly be restored to a modicum of its former glory.
I visited Hazel at her spa-like treatment room at her beautiful finca just outside of Pollensa. “As a skincare specialist, my focus is on providing bespoke treatments tailored to each individual's unique skin concerns.” Hazel explained.
She recommended a package of 3 IPL treatments on my chest and said that my timing – January – was perfect. I would need two weeks’ down time after each session whilst my skin recovered and absolutely no sun on the treated area.
Now I’m not going to lie, the process involved a little discomfort with quick zapping sensations that lasted a total of under ten minutes. For a week my skin was sensitive to the touch and itchy. As warned by Hazel, after a few days a multitude of new freckles emerged. It was a little worrying to see things get worse before they got better, but exactly as she foretold the skin shed and within two weeks my decolletage was much improved.
A month later I had the 2nd treatment, which was considerably less uncomfortable, the skin was already healthier. Hazel got rid of a large sun spot that I had presumed I would just have to live with.
Two weeks after the 2nd treatment and the results were so good we both decided I didn’t even need the 3rd session. So here I am ready for summer, with skin that looks, I think, 10 years younger!
Hazel is a joy to be treated by, with both a caring and professional manner. She messaged me several times after each treatment to give me post care advice and to check on how I was doing.
I was so enamoured I treated myself to a facial. Hazel’s anti-aging package includes a double cleanse, a superficial double peel to remove all of the dead skin, followed by microneedle needling where anti-aging and hydrating serums are introduced, finishing off with a healing algae mask. I was pink for a day and then as fresh as a daisy.
Hazel offers a wide range of services, from advanced aesthetic treatments to Hydra Facials and bespoke relaxing facials. She says, “I’ve been in the industry for over four years now, and I absolutely love what I do. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is meeting new people, helping them address their skin concerns, and giving them the time to feel re-energised. It's a beautiful and fulfilling space to work in, and it leaves me feeling relaxed at the end of the day.”
“Seasonality does play a role in some of my treatments. For example, IPL laser treatments follow a specific protocol and are best suited for the autumn and winter months. Most of the other treatments are effective year-round, but the most popular and ideal options for the summer are Hydra Facials and the Ultimate Radiance treatment, along with my bespoke facials. Just like your wardrobe changes with the seasons, skincare treatments adapt as well. In the winter, I use heavier products, while in the summer, I switch to lighter formulations.”
