Fira de sa Perdiu 2025, Montuïri
7 December 2025
Set on a hill in the heart of the Pla de Mallorca, Montuïri is one of the island’s most characterful agricultural towns. It’s famous for its ring of old stone windmills that once ground local grain, and for the nearby prehistoric settlement of Son Fornés, one of the most important Talayotic archaeological sites in the Balearics. The old flour mill of Molí des Fraret, now home to the Son Fornés Museum, links the town’s farming past with its cultural life today.
What the fair is about
The Fira de sa Perdiu honours Mallorca’s countryside traditions—its game birds, native animals, and artisans. Visitors can expect:
Partridge-calling competition (Concurs de Perdius de Reclam), where hunters test their skill in imitating partridge calls.
Market of crafts and local produce, offering everything from handmade ceramics and textiles to cheese, wine, and charcuterie.
Displays of native breeds and working dogs, including the agile Ca Rater Mallorquí.
Music, tastings, and local gastronomy, with food stalls, folk performances, and Mallorcan wines flowing through the day.
In recent years, the fair has also included cultural events on the preceding Friday and Saturday—concerts, exhibitions, and food tastings—and sometimes a sporting element such as a community race or cycling event on the following weekend.
Key dates in 2025
The 2025 Fira de sa Perdiu will take place on Sunday, 7 December, following the long-standing tradition of holding the event on the first Sunday of December. Lead-up cultural activities are expected on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 December, though the detailed programme is usually released closer to the date.
What guests can expect in 2025
A vibrant rural atmosphere filling Montuïri’s main square and surrounding streets, with stalls selling traditional foods, handicrafts, and seasonal goods.
The partridge-calling contest as the highlight of the morning, with locals and visitors gathering to cheer the contestants and see the prize-giving in Plaça Major.
A family-friendly experience, with live music, local dishes, and activities that celebrate the island’s countryside.
A touch of history, with the opportunity to visit the windmills or the Son Fornés archaeological site nearby.
Practical notes
Montuïri lies in central Mallorca, about 30 kilometres from Palma and easily reached via the Ma-15 road. Parking areas are set up around the town on fair day, and early arrival is recommended. The local council (Ajuntament de Montuïri) publishes the final schedule in the days before the event.
In short: The Fira de sa Perdiu is a celebration of everything rural, authentic, and Mallorcan. On 7 December 2025, Montuïri will once again blend tradition, nature, and community spirit in a fair that remains unique on the island—a lively day of crafts, animals, food, and the unmistakable call of the partridge echoing across the Pla de Mallorca.
