Sant Blai Festival in Campos – Usually between 1st-7th February
The Sant Blai Festival in Campos celebrates Saint Blaise, the patron saint famed for healing throat ailments, with a unique mix of religious, cultural, and communal activities. The day kicks off with A Sant Blai Sense Fum, a fun walk and bike ride from Plaça Major. Attendees can enjoy cultural demonstrations such as traditional chair-cording, paper pinwheel workshops, and even a falconry show.
The religious element shines through with a solemn mass at the Sant Blai Oratory, where visitors can participate in a throat anointment ritual using blessed oil. The day ends with a torrada, a barbecue featuring delicious Mallorcan specialties, where tickets can be bought in advance. The oratory is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for visitors wishing to experience the spiritual and cultural offerings.
Santa Àgueda Festival in Sencelles – February 1 to 5, 2025
The Santa Àgueda Festival in Sencelles is a multi-day celebration held from February 1 to 5 in honour of Saint Agatha, the patron saint of women, breast cancer patients and nurses. The festival’s highlights include lively parades with traditional figures such as Tamborino and Na Mustaca, as well as a colourful procession on February 5 with floats and folk groups. A solemn mass on February 5 at the Parish Church of Sant Pere includes tributes to the oldest and youngest women of Sencelles, reinforcing the saint's connection with women. Culinary delights, including tastings of Santa Àgueda’s tummy and sweet wine, add to the festivities. The lighting of a traditional bonfire on the evening of February 4 invites music and dance, providing a lively end to the day. Carnival in Mallorca – 27th February - 6th March 2025
Mallorca's Carnival, held in February, is a whirlwind of fun, colour, and cultural flair. This wacky celebration begins on or around Dijous Llarder (Fat Thursday) - Thursday 27th February 2025, the precursor to Lent, and runs until Ash Wednesday. Each town across the island has its own unique take on Carnival, with Palma's parades, Sa Rueta (for children) on 23rd February 2025, and Sa Rua (for adults) on the 2nd March 2025 , being the biggest and most elaborate. Expect to see extravagant floats, elaborate costumes, and lively street performances. One of the quirkiest traditions of Mallorca’s Carnival is the Burial of the Sardine, a mock funeral procession of a sardine effigy, symbolising the end of the Carnival and the start of Lent. The festival is a unique blend of ancient customs and Christian traditions, offering an exciting, whimsical experience for all.
