Mercat Medieval | Medieval Market 2025, Capdepera
16 -18 May
Each May, the quaint village of Capdepera, nestled in the northeastern corner of Mallorca, transforms into a living tapestry of the Middle Ages. The Mercat Medieval—Capdepera’s beloved Medieval Market—is more than a fair; it’s a full-scale historical celebration that invites locals and visitors alike to walk through time.

By Claire Miller
First held in 2000, the Mercat Medieval was created to commemorate the founding of Capdepera's castle in 1300 by King Jaume II of Mallorca. This fortress, which still dominates the skyline, served as a strategic defence post against pirate attacks and a safe haven for the town's inhabitants. Over the years, the market has grown into one of the most popular medieval-themed festivals in the Balearic Islands, showcasing centuries-old traditions, artisan crafts, and folkloric performances.
Set within the walls of the castle and the cobblestone streets of the village, the market captures the essence of medieval life with costumed performers, falconry displays, fire eaters, and stalls selling handcrafted wares, traditional foods, and local delicacies.
