Perched atop the ancient walls of Palma’s Es Baluard Museum, MARiLUZ is more than a restaurant—it’s a curated experience where art, landscape, and gastronomy converge. Rooted in its surroundings yet refreshingly original, it’s a must for both locals and travellers.
Designed by renowned Spanish interior designer Sandra Tarruella, the space blends natural materials like olive wood, palmetto, and ceramics with the museum’s historic stone and views of the nearby port. The open terrace—surrounded by sculptures, native greenery, and a tranquil reflecting pool—feels like an outdoor gallery. Inside, minimalist interiors and panoramic views frame Palma’s cathedral and the sea.
From morning to night, MARiLUZ evolves with the day. Mornings feature fresh juices, croissants, and traditional ensaimadas. At lunch, the kitchen celebrates local ingredients through refined tapas and rice dishes—standouts include crayfish rice and a seafood arroz with squid, shrimp, and clams. Evenings bring golden hour cocktails and candlelit dinners on the terrace.
Chef Álex Durán’s menu is a tribute to the Mediterranean and Mallorca. Highlights include glass shrimp and avocado lettuce tacos, roasted eggplant with sobrasada, honey, and mint, salt-baked sea bass, fried cap roig, and sirloin with three peppers. The almond coulant with coffee ice cream makes for a memorable finale.
A carefully selected wine list—focusing on Spanish and organic labels—completes the experience. Yet it’s the soul of MARiLUZ that lingers: a place not just for dining, but for living, where every element captures the relaxed, luminous spirit of Mediterranean life.
