Easter in Mallorca 2026

Semana Santa or Holy Week, is an important religious observance in Mallorca, Spain, marking the final week of Lent and the commemoration of the death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In 2026, Semana Santa runs from 29 March to 5 April 2026. You will find processions, church services, as well as street celebrations and markets throughout the week
Every year Mallorca celebrates Semana Santa with lots of emotion, traditional and faith, and 2026 will be no exception - and will even bring some new experiences and very special moments for those who participate. Here are a few highlights, see them if you can!

29 March – Palm Sunday

Carrying palms and olive branches, participants recall Christ's arrival in Jerusalem in a procession that tends to have a warmer, more family-friendly atmosphere than the sombre events later in the week.

Tuesday, 31 March – Holy Tuesday
21:00 Via Crucis (Stations of the Cross) procession through nine stations located in churches and convents across the town. The Via Crucis will be led this year by Josep Maria Serra Sansó, director of the Secretariat for Youth and Vocational Pastoral Ministry.
The nine stations are: 1st Santa Maria la Major — Jesus is condemned to death 2nd Germanes de la Caritat — Jesus takes up the cross 3rd Sant Francesc — Jesus falls 4th Crist Rei — Jesus meets his mother 5th Sant Domingo — Simon of Cyrene helps carry the cross 6th La Salle — Veronica wipes the face of Jesus 7th Sant Bartomeu — Jesus is stripped of his garments 8th La Puresa — Jesus is nailed to the cross and dies 9th Santa Maria la Major — Jesus rises from the dead
One of the most distinctive features of Inca's Holy Week, participants observe complete silence throughout the Via Crucis, giving the procession an exceptionally solemn and contemplative character.

Sunday, 12 April – Octave of Easter
12:00 Pancaritat at the Ermita de Santa Magdalena. Families and friends gather at this hilltop hermitage outside Inca for a traditional day in the countryside, sharing food and keeping alive one of the most enduring customs of the Mallorcan Easter calendar.
Other Highlights
Pollença: On Good Friday at 9:00 p.m, the Davallament of Jesús de la Creu takes place. This emotional and sober event starts at the top of the Calvari steps, a procession down into the town follows. The event includes traditional songs, prayers and a reading of the poem “Processó” by Costa i Llobera.
Llucmajor: The Sermó de l’Enganalla in the Convent of Sant Bonaventura holds special significance during Semana Santa. Additionally, Diumenge de l'Àngel commemorates the fire in the chapel, offering a poignant reflection on faith and resilience.
Sineu: On Good Friday evening at 22:00, the medieval ensemble Joch de Ministrils performs during the Solemn Procession of the Holy Burial and the Solitude of Mary at the Convent de Sant Francesc, adding a hauntingly beautiful musical dimension to the occasion.
