Fira d'Alcúdia | The Alcudia Fair 2024
The Fira d'Alcúdia or Alcudia Fair is an annual three-day event held in early October, transforming the charming medieval town of Alcúdia into a vibrant cultural hub. With its lively streets, historical exhibitions, artisan markets, and culinary showcases, the festival highlights the best of Mallorcan tradition. The festival also hosts the ever-popular Mercato Roma or Roman Market - a nod to the town’s Roman history which brings ancient the Roman Empire to life through performances, markets, and parades. Here’s a guide to the key events happening each day during the festival:
Friday, October 4: Opening of the Festival
The festival kicks off with great energy on Friday evening.

6:00 p.m. – The festival opens with the Alcúdia Giants Parade, a traditional procession accompanied by the lively music of the xeremiers, or bagpipers.

6:30 p.m. – Official inauguration of the fair at Passeig Mare de Déu de la Victòria, followed by a live broadcast from Alcúdia Radio.

7:00 p.m. – Dive into the festival’s rich artistic offerings with multiple exhibitions, including ancient Egyptian artifacts, puzzles, and metal sculptures by local artists. The evening is filled with creativity at every corner, with art displays across the town.

8:30 p.m. – Don’t miss the XXVII Mostra de Cuina Casolana in Plaça de Carles V, a showcase of home-cooked Mallorcan cuisine where locals serve up traditional dishes. For just 5 euros, you can sample delicious Mallorcan fare while enjoying a communal outdoor dinner.

10:00 p.m. – The night continues with live music at the Plaça de Carles V, where the band The Machins will perform, and a Pre-Fair concert featuring La Movida and DJ Rocamir at Avinguda dels Prínceps d’Espanya.
Saturday, October 5
Saturday is packed with events that cater to families, art lovers, and those who appreciate local craftsmanship.

10:00 a.m. – The fairgrounds officially open with exhibitions such as metal sculptures and a car and motorcycle show. Head to Carrer de Pol·lentia for a display of stunning classic vehicles.

11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Families can enjoy activities like XL wooden games, a colourful toy library, and a sheet metal workshop for children at Paseo Mare de Déu de la Victòria.

12:00 p.m. – The animal area opens, showcasing native breeds of Mallorcan livestock, including pigs, donkeys, and local horses. Animal lovers can also attend the dog show at the Campet de les Ànimes.

5:30 p.m. – As the sun sets, prepare for an evening of pageantry with a parade featuring S’Estol del Rei en Jaume, a traditional Mallorcan dance group, and the music of the xeremiers.

7:30 p.m. – The highlight of Saturday is the breathtaking Horse Night, an equestrian show featuring expert riders performing dressage and vaulting at the Campet de les Ànimes.

10:00 p.m. – Cap off the night with a Revetla (night party) featuring the Alcúdia Music Band, offering live music and dancing at Plaça de Carles V.
Sunday, October 6: Closing Day of Celebration

10:00 a.m. – The animal area reopens, offering another opportunity to see native animals. Meanwhile, the Vanrell group car show and Nomad Demons motorcycle display continue on Carrer de Pol·lentia.

10:30 a.m. – Experience the elegance of the Equestrian Show at Campet de les Ànimes, where riders will showcase their skills in various equestrian disciplines.

6:30 p.m. – The festival concludes with a Ballada Popular, a traditional Mallorcan folk dance performance featuring local groups like Tramudana and Sarau Alcudienc at Plaça de Carles V.

Mercato Roma:
One of the highlights of the Fira d'Alcúdia is the Mercato Roma, a market and performance space inspired by ancient Roman culture, which runs all weekend long. The market is located at Cami de Ronda, where visitors can immerse themselves in Roman history with live reenactments, street performances, and artisan crafts.

Friday, October 4 – The Mercato Roma opens at 11:00 a.m., with Roman-inspired music, parades, and performances throughout the day. At night, enjoy the night show at Pont de Vila Roja, an epic spectacle not to be missed.

Saturday, October 5 – From 12:00 p.m., the market is filled with musical parades, Roman street vendors, and the spectacular Carnival of the Colosseum. Families can also enjoy the Mimir storyteller show and admire fantastic Roman characters roaming the streets.

Sunday, October 6 – The final day sees a grand parade of centaurs and a show by Suru, the warrior elephant, making for a memorable close to the Mercato Roma.
Throughout the Mercato Roma, visitors can explore Castrum Roma, a dedicated children's area with games, live shows, artisan markets, and Roman-themed food stalls.
